This past weekend saw the first DC area Slash Retreat at chez moi, aka The Holy Unpredictible Manor. Weather was perfect and the company was better. littleblackbow flew in and spent the weekend making lots of lovely art and incredible soup.spidermoth and craveslash were here, as well as torino10154 and gryffindorj who gets the award for travelled furthest, coming all the way from Idaho. Sunday we </b>dementordelta came for a lovely afternoon including art lessons, and later ravenna_c_tan arrived after attending and presenting at Gaylaxicon all weekend.
what did we do? we had Art and Doll show 'n tell, with beautiful Snape and Lupin mermen from spidermoth, and Teddy Lupin, Bellatrix and Sirius ABJDs styled and dressed by Rana. Moth was working on a new Hagrid merman!
we read fic aloud, recc'd our favorite stories, laughed and were squeeful about getting together.
We walked the dogs by the river on a perfect fall day. we made and ate fabulous food. We watched Sanrry videos. I modelled my lovely school robes and cloak. We talked about fandom, slash, penis envy, DanRad, Snape, Sirius, Rickman, Oldman, wank, wanking, creative joys and challenges, and how we managed to balance fandom and RL.
I do believe a good time was had by all, and I look forward to doing this again sometime.

I've made next to no progress on the projects that need to be done in the next two weeks, and I'm fighting off a wee flu-like thing now, which means lots of sleep and no brains at all. @_@ I don't want to be late on those fic deadlines, because it'll only make me late on everything else this year, and so I'm going to see if I can't set aside some dedicated writing time... as soon as I find my brains, anyway.
I did, however, get another teenyfic done before succumbing to the flu. This one's Sirius/Harry, PG for amanuensis1:

I'm not wordspinning on this topic myself, because it makes me froth at the mouth, and go all capslocky, and then the cats start hiding under the furniture. It's bad for me, that kind of constant infuriation, so composing my own prose on it is something I avoid, on the sure knowledge that, as with my outrage over the criminal bungling of the disaster relief after Katrina, if I begin to talk about it, I'll never quite be able to stop ranting. I am just as outraged here -- moreso, seeing as how I'm one of the millions who, despite GOOD credit, and the ability to pay what I borrow, still can't get a loan to stop my house falling down before the winter hits. If they'd fucking given ME two million dollars, I'd have turned right back around and sunk that straight into the construction and mortgage industries, stat.
See? That's what I mean. Best not to get me started.

The colouring in this was rather inspired by a series of still life paintings by Chris Peters - the wine glass and cherries are in fact a nod to those, borrowed from his painting "Memories of Sin" :). The pomegranate, complicated, symbology-laden, sparkly-pretty-tasty fruit that it is, is all mine :). At the risk of stating the obvious, the title is from Galadriel's wee moment where she nearly gave in to the corrupting desire to "do good" with ultimate power, and the full quote is, of course, "All shall love me and despair".

2008 Snarry Summer Games are about to begin!
The 2008 Snarry Summer Games will officially begin posting tonight, on October 12, 2008.
Starting tomorrow, we will post TWICE a DAY, one per team - DRAGON & PHOENIX, until all the entries are in: 50 total.
At the end of it all, we will allow approximately one week for the judges to have time to catch up on their voting for the Games entries. After that, we take the polls down, and the mods will begin the count. During the voting Hiatus, there will be more entertainment, stay tuned.
**There will be NO POSTS at our Livejournal community.
We have a Livejournal RSS FEED over there that people can watch. We thank you all for your support during our move to safer waters.
